[Archon-L] Moving Archon

HI Jason,
If the database server is not behind a firewall, you may be able
to leave the source datbase where it is. Then you would just
need to copy the archon folder from the firewalled webserver onto
a publicly accessible web server
If you actually have to move from one database server to a
different database server, that would be a bit more complicated,
but doable. Basically, you just need to get the existing
database moved completely over to the new server. There are a
couple of ways to do this.
If there is not that much data in your installation of archon,
you could use the backup utility in Archon to write the the
entire database (under Database Management,->Export Database) to
a file. Be sure you use the right SQL syntax. It will write
the contents of the entire DB into a *.sql.gz file, which you
should save on a local drvie.
Then install a clean version of archon on your new web and
database server. On the new installation, go under database
managmement -> Import database, choose Archon SQL Script, browse
to find the .sql.gz file you just created, and import it.
This should work correctly, and it should bring all of the
existing data from you existing installation over into the new
database.
There may be a slight problem with the user table, so you should
plan on making new user information after the import.
Please let me know if you have further questions, or how this
works out for you. There are other ways to move databases from
one server to another, of course.
Thanks,
Chris

The domain for the installation will change, as will the ip address. Does anyone know what would be the best procedure for moving the database from one server to another? I am certain I will have to change some information within the database. Does anyone know exactly what information will I have to change?
