Unfortunately there seems to be a glitch in the ARCHON installation program.
Our web designer has had equal problems and has spent many hours on the line
with their tech support. Though everything seemed to be set up perfectly
and we followed the installation instructions to the letter, ARCHON kept
returning an error message that it could not find or connect to the server.
First the program was randomly putting extra characters into the code. Now
they think the problem is that our file server is not the same as our web
server and so that is why it's not connecting. We haven't received a
definitive answer on that yet, though.
Anyway, I'm sorry I can't give you a positive answer, but at least you can
know that it's not you! We're desperately trying to get it to work as well.

There is kind of a latent capacity to do this built into the
API, but we have not implemented it here in the way you suggest.
However, In our output template for controlcard.php, we make the
locations clickable so you can see whatelse is that room or shelf
(when a staff member is logged in). To do it outside of a single
collections screen in the way you suggest would be a bit
different.
Anyway, If you look at the code around line 516 in the attached
file, you can see how it works on the collections page for us.
(If you want to see how this looks in your archon, just replace
the existing file controlcard.inc.php in our templates folder for
your existing template set with the attached file, but please
note we do some very specific testing on the values, so it may
cause inconsistent results, and you should save your old file and
restore it after you have viewed the results with our file.)
