I am just starting to look at 2.0, so excuse me if this is obvious. Did
either the bulk renumbering for growing collections or web disable for
restricted series/subseries/boxes/folders make it into this release?

Subject: [Archon-L] Archon 2.0 Beta
We are pleased to announce that Archon v. 2.0 is available for
testing in the sandbox on the Archon website:
http://sandbox.archon.org/uiuc_20/
Please look at the site, use it, and send any bug reports to
bugs at archon.org.
Currently, we plan to release a beta version of 2.0 to select
institutions in advance of the public release, which is scheduled
for on or about August 15. We will have the beta files available
for installation as soon as next week. If you are interested in
trying to install and test version 2.0 in advance of the public
release, please send me an email, EVEN if we have discussed it in
the past, so I can make sure my list is up to date.
2.0 will add the following features:
--multilingual support in the admin/staff interface
--'cart' and user registration functions (allows users to
put collections, series, folders, etc in a basket
to view later, email to archivist, etc.
--modularization--all code has been rewritten
and segregated into a core and packages.
Allows for easier addition of new features
--new default theme and template set (what used to be
called a style is now called a theme)
--bug fixes
2.0 will be a major upgrade; probably The most significant set of
changes the software will see. Therefore, we are hoping to get a
lot of feedback before we develop the documentation and release
the software publicly. We are also looking to spend some time
optimizing the code before release.
Institutions that plan to upgrade to the new version of the
software should plan to make changes to their styles and template
files, since some of the variable names have changed and since
some new features have been added. In most cases, it would make
the most sense to adopt the new default template set and to
customize from that point forward, by applying a new CSS
stylesheet and making other changes.
Thanks,
Chris
